MEP Glenis Wilmot questions EU Commission on Light Sensitivity

February 2, 2017 Filed Under: News, Worldwide

EU Parliamentary Questions

Following discussions with LightAware, Dame Glenis Willmott MEP, Julie Ward MEP, Catherine Stihler MEP and Theresa Griffin MEP have asked a question of the European Commission.

“In 2012, the SCENIHR adopted a report on the Health Effects of Artificial Light. The report identified a number of areas where there is a lack of data on the health effects of specific lighting technologies. These include emission data for different types of light bulb; flicker induced health effects from residual high frequency intensity modulations; the effects of non-incandescent light sources on colour rendition, fatigue and other components of human visual perception.

Given the number of gaps identified in the available data, has the Commission carried out any further research on this topic?”
