Gemma – East Midlands

December 20, 2017 Filed Under: Individual Stories

It is only this year have I realised that my symptoms are caused by florescent lighting. I started a new job in March 2017 and had two very servere migraines within a few days of each other. I started by checking what might have triggered theses migraines and came to the conclusion that the only new thing in my life was the job. Both attacks happened while at work so I put two and two together equalling lights.

I now realise that other symptoms I’ve had over a number of years have stemmed from lighting. My sensitivity increased during pregnancy and I often fainted in shops and even the hospital. I remember feeling sick and dizzy in shopping centres and the supermarket on several occasions but never thought it was the lights.

To help deal with my sensitivity I always carry essential oils, I go around work switching off lights where I can (some are on an automatic switch which I am unable to turn off) and I frequently go outside to get some natural light.
