Mister G – Germany

February 12, 2019 Filed Under: Individual Stories

When exposed to LED light sources I experience nausea, vertigo, anomia and sometimes migraine-like, pounding headaches combined with a feeling of reality loss. The intensity of these symptoms varies widely depending on the kind of light source. Certain streetlights or LED-panels induce very fierce symptoms after only a short exposure. I’m not sure what causes these problems; is it the flickering of the light or the higher intensities in the blue spectrum? Interestingly, LED-monitors cause no problems at all (maybe because they run on low-volt (“smoothed”) direct current?).

Wearing glasses with a blue-filter reduces some of the symptoms, e.g. while shopping or walking in the dark (under streetlights). But still, I would be unable to teach in a classroom with LED-lightning. In addition, most of my fellow human beings (understandably) can’t understand the severe problems I’m having with LEDs, which makes me feel like an outsider or that I’m not being taken seriously.
