Cross Bay Walk in aid of LightAware

On Saturday 1st June a group of LightAware supporters crossed the magnificent Morecambe Bay together to raise money for LightAware.  The Cross Bay Walk  was led by Michael Wilson, King’s Guide to the Sands and entailed walking about 7 miles across the mud flats of Morecambe Bay and fording the river Kent to make the journey between Arnside and Grange over Sands in Cumbria. £500 was raised for LightAware and a wonderful time was had by all.

Historically the journey would have been made by foot, horse or horse and cart and was for many centuries the main way travellers could get between the different towns on Morecambe Bay. Now the walk is carried out to raise funds for charity. The natural light on the bay is ever shifting and changing and the walk gives a rare perspective of the coast of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Mountains behind.
