A feast for sore eyes

We drove 500 miles and then we drove 500 more… in the car (me, eyes closed tight shut) or that’s what it felt like rattling along gravel roads from Auckland to the far north of New Zealand in pursuit of visual freedom. From Auckland with millions of people and all their LED lights and a sky devoid of any stars, we drove and drove to a cabin where the night sky was pitch black with thousands and thousands of stars.

Not an LED light in sight. Just the moon and the stars with night birds calling out into the semi wilderness. By day surrounded by bush, ferns, streams and waterfalls, we plunged into the ice cold river water teaming with small fish and yes, eyes now wide open – I had found it – visual freedom! No LED lights. No pounding head crushing migraine. This was it: – A feast for sore eyes –
